The Carry Community Playgroup
Join us on Tuesday afternoons at 1 pm - 3 pm for The Carry Community Playgroup. These drop-in sessions are the perfect opportunity to meet local parents and receive support with slings and carriers, self-weighing, infant sleep, infant feeding and starting solids. Please book your space so we know who's coming along and set up accordingly!
What can you expect?
Sling Library
Feel free to bring along your own carrier or try one from our huge library of different types of wraps, slings and carriers for you to try and rent (subject to availability). I also provide fit-checks to help you feel confident with your chosen carrier.
Self weigh
Medical grade scales are available if your little one is due for a weigh-in. It is advised to weigh monthly once you are past the 6-8 week GP check and baby is feeding well with no concerns.
Support with feeding, including breast, formula or combi-feeding is available too!
Infant feeding
and sleep
You can access support with what can be the hardest part of early parenthood: feeding and sleeping. If you have any questions or concerns, this is the place to receive support in a relaxed and friendly environment.
Stay and play
We want you to feel like you are part of a supportive community of like-minded parents when you attend these sessions. This is why we provide the grownups with tea, coffee, snacks and a chance to connect with other caregivers and a soft play area for the little ones to explore and enjoy.
The Carry Community Playgroup is run by myself, Lisa (trained and experienced sling consultant and in infant feeding and holistic sleep support, founder of The Carrying Midwife) and Cheryl Griffin (birth and postnatal doula and breastfeeding peer supporter) The sessions are designed to be the perfect combination of a traditional sling library, infant sleep and feeding support group and stay and play session to provide guidance and support in a relaxed and friendly environment. So come and join us for a hot drink and snack and join our community of like-minded parents and caregivers.

Meet Cheryl
Hi, I'm Cheryl Griffin, a birth & postnatal doula - covering Worcestershire & surrounding areas. I’m here to help you through your pregnancy, birth and early parenthood journey. I’ll be your friendly guide, your cheerleader, your advocate, your listening ear & your extra pair of hands. By your side every step of the way, offering evidence based information & encouraging you to trust your instincts so you can feel confident, supported and in control. I live in a small Worcestershire village with my husband, our teenage son, two cats, and a handful of chickens. We also have three grown-up children who’ve flown the nest, and very recently, we became grandparents for the first time, a truly magical experience! I’ve always been fascinated by pregnancy and birth. Over the years, I’ve worked in many roles that have shaped who I am as a doula, including full-time nannying, supporting people with learning disabilities and mental health conditions, and working as a teaching assistant in a reception class. Learn more about me and my services by checking out my website on the link below!
Sessions are bookable with an optional donation towards running costs to allow accessibility for all, with a suggested donation of £5 if affordable!

Sling and coffee walks
If you're looking for the opportunity to receive babywearing support and get your steps in all at once, then come along to one of my Sling and Coffee walks!
We start our walks meeting at The Orchard Cafe, based in Worcester Woods, where I provide fit-checks while we grab a coffee. Once we're all ready to go, we set off for our walk around Worcester Woods. We tailor the walk to a length that suits everyone, so anyone recovering from a C-section or episiotomy can also join, without worrying about overdoing it! The route is also mostly flat (although it can get a little muddy!), and it is accessible for pushchairs too. Partners, older siblings and dogs are all also welcome to join in on our walk.
These sessions are FREE, and there's no need to book. Simply check out the schedule below for our next walk, grab your carrier and come along!

Starting solids workshop
As a trained Starting Solids Facilitator, I also run monthly Starting Solids Workshops to help parents navigate the transition to feeding their little ones solid food.
In these workshops, you will learn about the theory and physiology behind when and how to start introducing solid foods. We take a look at what the signs of readiness are (and importantly, what AREN'T signs of readiness), and we cover both traditional and baby-led methods to help you understand what works best for you and your baby.
We also cover allergies and choking, how to avoid fussy eating, introducing drinks with meals and the difference between commercial vs home-made foods. You will also receive a handout containing all that is covered in the workshop, plus meal ideas.
Check out the dates below and book your place.

My postnatal course consists of 7 sessions:

Birth debrief and emotional well-being
-
Infant feeding (with Latch Perfect Tongue Tie)
-
Infant sleep
-
Postnatal recovery (with Laura May Physio)
-
Baby massage (with Lil and Moo baby massage)

Finally, I also teach refresher antenatal courses for 2nd and 3rd time parents, which also include a session on babywearing as it can become an even more helpful skill for those with multiple little ones to look after!
